Hurray CVS! CVS Announces Removal of Known Toxic Chemicals From Popular Beauty Brands

Less harmful chemicals coming soon to CVS

Finding green less toxic beauty and personal care products will soon be easier than ever. CVS just announced that their store-brand beauty prods — i.e. the CVS HealthBeauty 360Essence of Beauty, and Blade lines
will be free of known toxins like parabens and phthalates ( both endocrine disruptors) as well as the most common formaldehyde contributors.   The safer products will be fully available by 2019- so there is a waiting period BUT it is amazing news for health conscious  consumers!!

Our Favorite DIY Easy and Safe Wood Furniture Cleanser

Just when you think your munchkin has outgrown putting things in his mouth.... you find him... well literally with his mouth on the table- followed by a bunch of giggles 🤔 yet another reason ALWAYS to use non-toxic cleaners at home! 

Lots of people ask me what I use to clean furniture - specifically wooden furniture.  The reality is that even if no one is biting or licking your furniture at home, most conventional cleaners leave behind a list of toxic chemicals in your home's air and surfaces that your family will be exposed to every single day.

 Usually, at home, I use a barely damp microfiber cloths which serves to pick up the dust effectively without damaging the wood but sometimes wood needs a boost - a polish and a cleaning.

Healthy Foods for the Family: Beets!

I will admit it: I grew up absolutely despising beets. My mom would only serve beets in a beet salad where the beets were boiled and some mayo was added to them.... disgusting to me even today. However, about 6 years ago, I rediscovered beets and have been in love ever since.

Beets are great, roasted and added on salads or sandwiches (I especially love mixing them with goat cheese or just grating them on a salad). For kids, beet hummus is usually a favorite and then there is beet juice. It is sweet and has a lovely deep purple color which kids - and parents- tend to love.
